SUFJAN STEVENS is a NEW fav of mine.
His music seems to bring WONDER into my being.
His voice lovely and soothing. I would say he is comforting to me in
ways.
His writing is astonishing and real...he has this way of
making me really feel what he is saying.
My favorite album by Sufjan is ILLINOIS and I really enjoyed the new CHRISTMAS
album that was released this last winter.
I especially appreciate the instrumentation he uses.
He incorporates horns...guitars...keyboards...and other instruments I am not
mentioning here I am sure.
I find his music glorious and it makes me happy that he is making his recordings
himself, I believe at home.
I admire and appreciate this, because I prefer to produce my own work.
Alas, I have created the new album AMAZING POWER this very same way.
Doing the mixing and mastering myself as well.
Now I know I will continue to grow in experience....and get
better and better at producing.
Let me ask you...how does one learn if not to do it yourself?
So I am impressed with artists who do not buy into the plastic
and sterile production of some.
I feel it can lose some authenticity.
So Sufjan, my hat goes off to you.
